' in small gestures "
(Roger Scruton - philosopher)

(Delft, October 31, 1632 - Delft, July 15, 1675) was a Dutch painter.
There are moments that are repeated
in everyday life. We do not know
history, nor the full meaning of small gestures
ancient and almost trivial
But it is these precious moments in
almost never grasp the essence of which is made in our lives.

Short about Johannes Vermeer
Vermeer is called by some " The painter of light". In his paintings he makes a great meticulousness, women appear as real in the photographs. Often the artist dwells on the details .. like the "lace " china on his work, or woman who writes a letter. The interiors are his favorites, but its main purpose is to seek the light.
scholar David Hockney, in his book The secret revealed, with other historians, argues that Vermeer did use the camera obscura [citation] to determine the exact position of objects in the composition of the paintings and this seems to be supported by the effects of light and perspective.
Vermeer made extensive use of expensive ultramarine, made with lapis lazuli, not only for particular blue, but also to obtain other shades of color: continued to use this pigment in the years of economic crisis.
