John Keats died in Rome, February 23, 1821, just 24 years, is one of the most popular English poets of the Romantic period. In his short life he could not experience love while being in love, because ill with tuberculosis. Si trasferì in Italia per curarsi nel nostro clima mite, ma morì poco dopo. E' seppellito nel cimitero acattolico inglese di Roma.
Fu amico di Lord Byron e Percy Bysshe Shelley poeti romantici pure loro, e dell'artista Joseph Severn.
